WOW!! 54 surveys!

A HUGE Thank you to everyone who filled out a survey for my dissertation! You all are great! It's amazing when people come through for you! Also, a special thanks to Smokkee, Waffles and Carmen for pimping the survey!

So, now all I have to do is score the survey and get the data into a spreadsheet for my Chairperson. Oh, that's only 216 individual assessment instruments! LOL

Anyways, school is almost over for me - only 2 more days, including today! Then, we are off to Florida! We are loading the truck on Friday and leaving Cali on Saturday. Good times. I will definitely have more time to blog after school is over! And, will blog from the road.

Can't wait to start my internship. I will be working with kids ages 5 to about 10 or 11 at a residential day treatment facility. These kids are supposedly in real trouble. The schools won't even take them in any longer for educational purposes. One day a week I will commute to Tampa to a residential treatment program for teens and kids. These kids have been removed from their homes and are also severely emotionally disturbed. Do you guys remember a while back a story in the news about some kids found in Florida that were kept in cages by their parents? Well, those are the kinds of kids that I will be working with. These kids' stories are so sad, but I am really looking forward to working with them. It's challenging, yet can be very rewarding!

Thank you!! 10 more surveys needed!

Thank you to all the wonderful bloggers who answered my call for help on my dissertation research survey!! I have received an outstanding 39 complete responses!!! When I told my dissertation chairperson, he was very excited!!! But, his very next statement was "let's see if we can get more!"

So, we are hoping to get about 10 more responses! I do show that many people started the survey, and stopped at various points. This is not a problem, and is your right to do so. However, I do want to let you know that if you go back into the survey, it will pick back up on the page you exited from. So, if you choose to go back and complete the full survey you will not have to start all over. This is a good thing, as I know it is very long!

So how 'bout it ladies and gentlemen? Can we get 10 more responses? Please feel free to forward the link to anyone you know might be interested in contributing to this important research project.

And thank you again in advance!

She is humble, God loving, expects great things of her children, and loves unconditionally. She has spent the last 2 years taking care of a husband who was diagnosed with cancer of the esophagus, and has remained an inspiration through it all. I love her with all my heart.

Free Cell Service, continued

Okay so I got some more info to share. I'll summarize:

It looks like there are 3 cell plans to choose from. The top level, which includes unlimited talk, text and data is only $89.95. There are cheaper plans that have limits on minutes, etc. You can purchase their phone, or use your own, but you have to purchase their sim card. The first 30 days of service is free. Then the charge kicks in. However, the program asks that you refer/sign up 3 people for the program as well. When this happens, your cell service is free!

The program has 3 levels: $99, $250, and $499. Each level has an increasing number of reps that you can sign up, but 3 is still the minimum you must sign to get the free service. And, for everyone you sign up, they need to sign up 3 people as well; the peeps they sign, sign 3 more, etc. Every time this happens, YOU get $$$! My brother just joined the program and the guy above him is about 2 weeks in and already making $350 a week - the guy above him is making $2,000 a WEEK!!!!

So, the initial investment is $25 for the sim card + the program costs ($99 - $499, depending on which level you choose) + tax, unless you buy the phone (it is $399. It's the Samsung I7500. But, you get a $150 rebate when you sign up). Your 1st 30 days of cell service is free as well as your back office website, but when you sign up your 3 reps your back office website fee is now free also. So if you get people signed up within 30 days you will never have to pay for cell or website services.

You do not have to buy their phone, but if you ARE going to buy it, or think you might in the future just remember this--the rebates on the phone are only available if you buy the phone when you sign up to be a rep.

It sounds kind of complicated, so I'll stop here for now. But, I'm pretty excited about it!

Okay, so some of you may know that I got an internship in FLORIDA, Pablo (does anyone get this reference?)!!!!

While "on tour" (aka internship interviews), I visited Fayetteville, NC, West Palm Beach, FL and Bradenton/Tampa FL. I got to visit with my mommy while in NC and my bro and granny in FL. I also caught up with an old friend from high school in West Palm. Here is a pic:

Ya! We look good, huh? We are about to celebrate our 20 year high school reunion!

So, I know I have not blogged in a while. I have been stoopit busy with school, internship crap and dissertation. I will try to be better, I promise!

New recipe

Tried this recipe yesterday and it was pretty damn good! Ray even liked it!

Tangerine-Maple Glazed Chicken Thighs and Drumsticks

5 tablespoons canola oil
1 small red onion, coarsely chopped
1 quart tangerine juice or tangerine-orange juice, not from concentrate
4 sprigs fresh thyme
1 tangerine or orange, zested
1/4 cup pure maple syrup
1 tablespoon low-sodium soy sauce
1 teaspoon coarsely ground black pepper, plus more for seasoning
8 chicken drumsticks
8 bone-in chicken thighs
Salt
2 green onions, thinly sliced, for garnish
Grilled oranges and tangerines, for garnish

Directions:
Heat the grill to medium-high.
Heat 2 tablespoons of the oil in a medium saucepan over high heat, add the onion and cook until soft, 3 to 4 minutes. Add the juice and thyme, bring to a boil and cook, stirring occasionally, until thickened and reduced to approximately 1/2 cup, 20 to 25 minutes.
Strain the mixture into a bowl and whisk in the syrup, soy sauce and black pepper and let cool to room temperature. Can be made 2 days in advance and brought to room temperature before using.
Brush chicken on both sides with the remaining oil and season with salt and pepper. Grill until golden brown on both sides and just cooked through. Begin brushing with the glaze during the last 5 minutes of grilling. Remove to a platter and sprinkle with the green onion. Garnish with grilled citrus.
